1. Latino Presence In Policy

 

We commit our participation to increase the Latino presence and leadership in various policy, public and private policy making, and other governance bodies, such as community health center boards, hospital boards, health care commissions, housing and transportation, parks and recreation.


2. Public Health Education and Outreach

 

Public health education and outreach, using social and regular media as well as community events, concentrating on key health issues such as diabetes, reproductive health, prevention of chronic diseases, working in collaboration with the office of multicultural health and the philanthropic community.

 


3. Create a Network of Professionals and Community Leaders

 

Work on the creation of a work group of community mental health professionals and community leaders to work on issues of mental trauma, domestic abuse, family relationships and deportation resources, teen pregnancy and women empowerment.

Cultivando Liderazgo

is a  ten-hour leadership training culturally tailored for rural Latino populations as part of the Ford Institute Leadership Program.

 

RDI has facilitated Latino leadership trainings in over 20 communities in Oregon and four other states. These trainings are dynamic, informative, and relevant to Latino traditions in rural communities.

 

Cultivando Liderazgo is intended to increase unity among Latinos in the community, to increase Latino participation in the community, and to develop the dreams that the participants have for their community life.
